Maalegaon

This word would no doubt reflect the recent Bombings, but, it caused a flicker in my mind ....somewhere ... i had heard this name before .... where ... ?? ..... Then it came to my mind ..... a TV serial ..... Yes .. in a TV Serial ......

This was three years back . I was watching Doordarshan, which many of us don't do these days, on a weekend. I knew it was time for The Open Frame. The narrator started off with the same name .... Maalegaon .... Maalegaon has it's Own Film Industry .....!!!!!!!!! Yes .. it's true .... two brothers from Maalegaon remake hindi films to suit their audience .... There has been a mention of Maalegaon Ki Sholay as well .. the remake of Sholay, where the popular Train Chase sequence was remade into a Cab Chase Sequence ..... A meagre 2 rupee ticket would provide those people wholesome entertainment ... ( pirated CDs cost more :-) ) ...

As they described how the films are made, I was watching in Enthusiasm .... the technology they were using were .... is .... err ... not called Technology these days !!!! ... Using a Bicycle to mount the camera for shooting a Moving Sequence .... amazing .... !!!! I thought !!!..... The best part came when they showed Ashutosh Gowarikar ............ ( Yes ..The Director of Lagaan & Swades ).. in their midst ..He had paid a visit to Maalegaon .. and He was impressed by the way they shot the film ... It was a Shooting cum Editing Process... i.e, a Shot showing a different angle would simply mean that the camera was paused and was moved to the appropraite location and continued from there ..... Hmmmm .. nice Logic ...

So.. what about the quality ... ?? .. Expected answer ..not so good ....But Worth a 2 rupee ticket .....

It's sad to see that the Village is rattled by the recent bombings ...... But brave Indians we are .... we will fight Terrorism till it's death .....
